EGYPTIAN AMBASSADO ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR THE WORLD ANIMAL DAY 2015
What I managed to accomplish this year 2015 for the WORLD ANIMAL DAY (and it is considered as a huge step in a Muslim Country) is that after a lot of perseverance (phone calls , petitions , visits) I went to Dar El Efta ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dar_al-Ifta_al-Misriyyah) which is the highest Islamic Authority in the world , it is the equivalent of the Vatican for Muslims , and finally obtained a Fatwa approving and authorizing Euthanasia for stray animals instead of brutal barbaric killings ( by shooting or poisoning). Euthanasia was a tabou subject and is still considered as so. What S.P.A.R.E is targetting now is to change the animal condition in Egypt.
Last year 2014 I went to the Parliament and convinced the commitee that was drawing up Egypts new constitution to add a clause in the constitution concerning Animal Welfare: it is the clause #45. This year we have approached the religious issues about animals . We are planning to make changes (morally , legally , religiously) on a large scale that willl influence the animal condition in Egypt .
I also started a petition asking animal lovers to sign to save stray dogs in Egypt from horrible death and long agony employed by the authorities to control the stray population (strychnine and shooting). https://community.sumofus.org/petitions/euthanasia-for-stray-dogs-in-egypt-instead-of-painful-slow-death I am pro euthanasia in countries where animals are killed in a horrible and painful way daily by authorities and inidividuals .A peaceful humane death is what any animal deserves , it is better than long painful agony . So I consider this a big step forward . I am attaching the "Fatwa".
