Some of our residents at SPARE Donkey Sanctuary in Saqqara; Donkeys, Dogs, cats... All living in harmony... The rescue Balady Dogs and Cats are maintained in Free roaming packs and colonies. SOS Foster/Adopter needed urgently

A message from a kind first time animal rescuer: "About a month ago, we found a dog that was hit by a car in Road 90, New Cairo. We took him to a vet nearby and we found out he had a pelvic fracture that can't be treated and he lost sense in his left front limb. We kept him on meds and fluids (until he ate on his own), and just a week ago, he was finally able to get up on his feet and have one front limb help him walk. We need to find a home for him because he needs constant care that we can't provide. He's a male dog, about 8 months old. 16 kg. Loves pasta and ground beef. He's very friendly and loves to play around in the greens. ( Read more... )

After over a year since he was adopted out

After over a year since he was adopted out... Senior Sindbad came with his amazing caregiver to pay us a Visit. It was SO AWESOME to see one of our favorite former rescues again and so happy and better (I was elated to see Sindbad again, especially how he remembered me and the ways we interacted!!! heart emoticon ). Sindbad's story was a very sad one; he was abandoned by his former caregivers on the streets... ( Read more... )

A Sad new SPARE Medical Case

A poor dog suffering from a severe Case of Mange was rescued by kind people and brought to SPARE for urgent treatment 3 days ago. She is now going through the long process of TLC which will take months.
