Education
At S.P.A.R.E. we uphold education above all else. We believe that changing the way people think, and opening up their minds to other possibilities can truly make a difference.

Our education activities range from one-on-one talks with walk-in animal owners who bring us their animals for free treatment, to programs that target local and international schools.

We distribute free booklets to people about animal welfare, that speak both scientifically and religiously about the proper treatment of animals.

Schools

S.P.A.R.E. Founder & President Amina Abaza has given lectures at several schools throughout Cairo, speaking to children about the responsibility of caring for animals and animal welfare in Egypt.

Some of the schools we’ve co-operated with include:
British School, Kattameyah
Modern English School
Sakkara KG 1
American School, Kattameyah
Elias School, Helwan
Faculty of Veterinary Sciences
Mounoufieh University
Cairo American College
El Alson
Modern Academy School
Ramses College, Ghamra

The range of educational activities that S.P.A.R.E. has on offer to schools is varied:

Field Trips

S.P.A.R.E. can organize field trips of the Shelters and the Donkey Sanctuary. Children will have the opportunity to learn about animal care and welfare and to interact with the animals

After School Activities/Clubs
Your school can list S.P.A.R.E. as part of its community service program, or as part of After School Activities/Clubs.
In co-operation with your school, we can outline a well-rounded program that will give students the full Shelter experience, be it assisting in the veterinary clinic, working in the Shelters, or working with the animals.

Staff and Children Orientation in Egypt
We are available to take staff through an orientation on S.P.A.R.E. and may assist in speaking to the children about the Sponsorship Program.

Sponsorship Kit
S.P.A.R.E will provide the school with a Sponsorship Kit (PDF document or Powerpoint Presentation) briefly outlining key points in animal welfare, some of the animals up for sponsorship at the Shelter and our available programs.
We can work closely with the school to tailor-make the presentation towards a specific age group.
The whole class would then contribute towards sponsoring an animal at S.P.A.R.E for the following prices.
A Sponsorship Certificate would be made out for each member of the class, and one for the class as a whole.

Events
Community Outreach
One of the main ways in which we try to reach people is by stressing on the religious factors of treating animals kindly and with compassion. We distribute free booklets about the proper treatment of animals, to stress on the importance of animal welfare in all aspects of life.

Over the years, S.P.A.R.E. has led and participated in many successful events seminars, sponsorships to community fairs, and educational activities.

Awareness Events at the Giza Zoo
The events involve speaking to the local public and creating awareness as to how the animals should be treated, as well as other welfare issues.

World Animal Day Celebration
A celebration was held by WAD (World Animal Day) on the 4th of Oct. 2008 at Cairo Zoo, children and their parents enjoyed the festival including Sesame world group, children were educated, given presents, posters, education materials and had much fun to learn how to treat animals.

Speeches
Attending S.P.A.R.E. Founder and President Amina Abaza attends conferences and gives speeches all over the world in an attempt to expose the animal welfare situation in Egypt

Organizing S.P.A.R.E. also organizes conferences and speeches that bring animal welfare issues in Egypt to light. Should you be interested in arranging a conference, or inviting S.P.A.R.E. to attend, please contact us to arrange.

German School visit to S.P.A.R.E (October 2012)
School visits to S.P.A.R.E are one of the most important aspects of our mission.

The younger generation is our only hope for a society that respects and value animal welfare and rights.

(NVIS) New Vision International School Visit (March 2014)
Another great school visit in SPARE's 12 year awareness crusade. This time SPARE was privileged to visit NVIS and have a great day with the awesome students and faculty.
Grade 4 Rising Stars had kindly and generously initiated a fundraising program and gathered 1,200 Egyptian pounds which they donated as a contribution to SPARE's cause. SPARE presented them with Certificates of appreciation for the amazing efforts and distributed materials regarding humane and compassionate treatment toward animals.
Two of SPARE's resident dogs, Tango and Bigums, had an AWESOME day with the kids.

Thank you so much NVIS for emphasizing on teaching the children under your care to be compassionate, responsible and considerate members of Society. SPARE's furry angels are extremely grateful for your donation ♥

(BSE) British School of Egypt School Visit (May 2014)
As part of S.P.A.R.E's on going "awareness" and "out reach" campaigns in spreading the empathy, understanding and information regarding animals and their sufferings in our community, S.P.A.R.E is proud to yet again collaborate with another school; British School of Egypt
A school dedicated to raising the "awareness" of their charges regarding animal welfare and humane treatment.

S.P.A.R.E, headed by Noor Diab, carried out three awareness sessions with 3 classes.
It went extremely well and the students where extremely interactive throughout the sessions, with "Q n A's" etc.
Of course, Tango; one of S.P.A.R.E's mascots, who was "enthusiastically" welcomed, helped in spreading the knowledge and message of his brethren.

S.P.A.R.E hopes that more and more schools, both public and private, turn to "awareness" of their students and hopefully the children will spread what they have gained to their families and communities.

Children are our future.

El Alsson School Awareness Day (May 2014)
Schools that constantly encourage Compassion to both Humans and animals - El Alsson School.

On that day, SPARE had a great day with the almost 100 students of the Year one classes at El Alsson School.
It was a great and fun initiative that helped open the eyes of the young audience to the realization that animals actually are not that different from us when it comes to feeling, pain, hunger, fear, and much more.

Through a multimedia presentation, explanations and fun "show and tell" and Q and A session, Noor Diab connected as much as possible with the young boys and girls, esp Ainu the Balady rescue puppy, who was an instant Hit with them.

A big thank you to Charlotte Docherty, the faculty and management of El Alsson school for this great opportunity and always striving to instill compassion and empathy to all living things.
